Khululeka, SPZA and 2CharityWalk |

With a team of nine we walked the 2Charity Walk on Saturday October 13th 2012 to raise funds for Khululeka Grief Relief. Khuleleka assists children who are grieving for their loss of a parent or another loved one. In Support Groups of 10-12 children they get together to talk, sing, draw, cry and laugh.
"Thabo (13) lost both parents and an uncle. He blocked out memories of his loved ones, as a way of dealing with the pain. He was never emotional. He seemed to find comfort in coming to the group, although he seemed uneasy talking about his loss." Thabo about the Support Group: "I like that we got food, love each other, lots of laughing and drawing."
"Zandy (12) lost her father, who died after falling in front of a train. She also lost her grandparents. She was very emotional when talking about her loss. She remembered events vividly. Zandy is a shy child, but she was able to overcome her shy nature and share important things within the group. She also seems to be a deep thinker." Zandy about her Support Group: "We supported each other and don't judge each other. We talked about things we never talked about before."
The team and their sponsors raised € 2.100, enough for one Support Group.

Would you also like to make a donation to Khuleka's Support Groups and help more children to come to terms with their loss? To donate, please click on the photograph below.

Thank you so much for your support! |
